How prices and offers work
The normal price, the sales running in the shop now, and what a promo code does beside a sale. This page is written from the offers themselves, so it is always up to date.
The normal price
Every design has one normal price: the price it sells at whenever no sale is running, which is most of the year. A sale is a temporary cut from that price for the days we choose, and a promo code is a cut from it for one shopper. Every percentage you see — on a page, in your basket or in an email from us — is a percentage of the normal price.
Sales running now
No sale is running at the moment, so every price in the shop is its normal price.
How a sale works
- A sale applies by itself. You do not need to type a code or tick anything: every price you see already has it taken off, and your basket and the checkout show every offer that applies.
- While a sale runs, every price it covers is shown with the normal price crossed out beside the sale price and the percentage off, and the “i” at the end of the row names the sale by its code, such as SEPTEMBER2026. That code names the sale; you do not need to type it in.
- Each item takes the one offer that saves most on it. Offers never add together on one item: an item covered by a 40% sale and a 50% offer gets 50% off, not 90%.
- Different items in one basket can take different offers, so one order can carry several.
Promo codes
- A promo code’s percentage comes off the normal price, not the sale price. On each item you get the bigger saving, your code or the sale, never both.
- A promo code you were given, for example in an email, is used only on the items where it saves more than the sale already running. If the sale saves more on everything in your basket, your code is not used and you can keep it for another time.
- Some promo codes work only on certain categories, for example the ones you bought from before. The email that gave you the code names them, and the code takes nothing off items outside them.
- A basket carries one promo code at a time; typing another replaces it.
- A promo code is typed in your basket, on a design’s page or at checkout, or opened from the link in the email that sent it. Once on your basket it stays there while you browse, and every price you see is worked out with it. A code sent to you by name needs your account: opened or typed while signed out, it is saved for you until you sign in.
Crossed-out prices, and when we do not show them
A price shown crossed out, with the percentage beside it, is the item's normal price. We show it only when that normal price is really charged next to the sale: either just before the current run of offers began, for at least as long as those offers have been running, or again as soon as they end, for at least 28 days with no other offer. We never show it for more than 31 days of offers in a row. When neither is so — for example in a second month of sales in a row — you see the sale price in green on its own, with no crossed-out price and no percentage, and the “i” beside it names the sale without a figure.
End dates and countdowns
We say when a sale ends, or how long is left, only when the price goes back to normal afterwards — that is, when no other offer open to everyone is still running at its end or starts within 28 days of it. Otherwise we show only the day the offer started, because an end date would not be a real deadline.
- On an item's own page, only another offer that covers that item counts.
- On this page and in our emails, which speak about the sale as a whole, any other offer counts, whatever it covers.
- In your basket and at checkout, a sale shows only the day it started.
- A promo code you were given shows the day its offer ends.
The price you pay
Prices and offers are worked out again when you place your order, and the order keeps the prices it was placed at. If a sale ends while you are shopping, your basket shows the new price before you pay.
